Farewell Stephen

Stephen Harris—my longtime friend, colleague and mentor—passed away on Sunday afternoon after a long illness. His funeral will be held on August 18th. Those who knew him well and/or were influenced by him in some way have begun to mark the occasion by sharing their thoughts and reflections on FB and elsewhere. I have made a start on doing that myself. What I have also begun to do is to pull together a list of Stephen’s publications, manuscripts and talks. It is nowhere near complete yet, but I thought it would be useful to share this early rough draft in case others would like to contribute to it or just to use it for their own purposes. All additions, contributions and feedback would be gratefully received.

Stephen and Joy (pictured) were married for 54 years.

  1. Hi Brian, condolences to Nancy, you and Stephens family, colleagues and friends.I tried commenting in Wordspress but got stuck in a registration loop.Hopefully something like an ACE Hedley Beare keynote 2020 or 2021 can be dedicated to celebrating Stephen’s significant impact within NT/Australian teacher ed, the teaching profession, and in the field of ed research esp. the development of  cross cultural pedagogy in NT education and beyond. Im in an ACE meeting next week. Do you agree that this is something I could moot then or soon after? Would you support such a step? Importantly, I imagine that you would be the keynote. I shall await your feedback in due course.Again, condolences on your loss.Kind regards,Karen Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

    • Hello Karen

Thank you for your condolences and for your suggestion, which I’d be happy to accept, if it is approved.

Your comment came through on Word Press without any problems. Let’s see if my reply does the same. I have copied it to your gmail address just in case it does not.

      Best wishes, Brian
